Jeanne Caldwell, whose husband, Larry Caldwell runs an organization that sues schools over the teaching of evolution, filed the suit. Because it's for the kids, you know-- they might not be able to have P.E. classes anymore because their schools are constantly having to go to court over scientific theory, but gosh darnit, at least they might learn some Flying Spaghetti Monster. Larry says that the school is "taking a position on evolution and attempting to persuade minor students to accept that position." No word on whether he will later sue schools over their taking positions on gravity.
This is actually the second time the UC has been sued by anti-evolutionists. A few months ago, they were sued essentially over the fact they weren't giving home-schooled high school applicants credit for learning intelligent design or creationism. We find all of this kind of funny in that Berkeley is the school being sued for all this. Not necessarily because Berkeley is anti-religion or anything, but because we think they should just be happy they didn't find links to mother Goddess creation stories.
