One woman is dead and another was injured in separate shootings Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, but California Highway Patrol calls the shootings unrelated.

Expect heavier CHP patrols and copters on the East Bay highways in the days to come, as KPIX/CBS SF reports that three separate freeway shootings have occurred in the Concord area, Livermore, and Richmond in the last three says. Two are being blamed on road rage, but police believe a fatal Saturday afternoon shooting was gang-related according to the East Bay Times.

"At this time, none of these shootings appear to be related," CHP Officer John Fransen said at a Monday press conference.

The deadly Saturday shooting where police suspect gang involvement was on Highway 4 in Concord at around 2:25 p.m., the Times previously reported. That incident took the life of 25-year-old Antioch resident Destinee Shaharisha-Jenae Hillery, whose car was riddled with bullets.

Investigators believe Sunday’s Livermore shooting just before 6 p.m. was a case of road rage, according to NBC Bay Area. Police have not released the name of the woman who was shot in the leg on I-580 near Highway 84.

Then hours before the CHP press conference on the two previous shootings, another man in Richmond had his car shot at in what KCBS is also calling a road rage incident. No one was injured in that 10 a.m. incident on I-80 near Macdonald Avenue.

Investigators have some evidence and leads, but the cases aren’t solved. “If we want to stop this, a lot has to do with people coming forward,” Fransen told reporters Monday. “We understand that a lot of people don’t want to come forward. Maybe they’re scared. but we have to come together as a community.”
