- 39-year-old Brian Wan was arrested under suspicion of driving while intoxicated after crashing his Tesla into a Muni train at Embarcadero and Broadway on Thursday evening. - As the city of San Jose ramps up its campaign of arresting homeless people who decline multiple offers for shelter, a group of San Jose police officers were caught on video holding down and punching an unhoused man suspected of indecent exposure. The San Jose Silicon Valley NAACP filed a formal complaint over the officers’ use of excessive force and their dehumanizing behavior in which they made derogatory comments about the man's hygiene. - Alameda County Fire Department employee Kip Weber was arrested as part of a child sex predator sting in Modesto. The charges include attempted lewd acts with a child under 14, engaging in lewd communication with a minor, distributing harmful material to a minor and possession of child pornography. [CBS News]
- Helicopters have been banned from flying near Washington, D.C.'s airport after the January 29 collision between the passenger jet and Army helicopter. There have reportedly been an alarming number of near misses in recent years. [AP]
