  • Another dead gray whale has washed up in Bay, this time an adult female that was found today at Alameda’s South Shore Beach — and is likely the same whale seen floating last week near the USS Hornet Museum. This is the fifth whale to wash up around the Bay since March 30, and a necropsy will be performed to determine its cause of death. [KRON4]
  • Alaska Airlines announced that it is cutting three of its flights out of SFO in mid-August, one daily flight to Chicago O'Hare and two daily flights to Washington Dulles. The flights compete with United's dominance of both routes out of SFO. [SF Business Times]
  • Barbara Lee gave her first formal press conference today as Mayor-elect of Oakland, discussing what her priorities will be for her first hundred days. The election results likely won't be certified for another couple of weeks, and Lee is expected to be sworn in by mid- to late May. [ABC 7]
  • An armed robbery suspect was shot by police, possibly by a CHP-Dublin officer, following a pursuit that began in Concord and ended in San Jose Monday morning. The suspect was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. [KPIX]

  • Harvard University has filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration, calling its demands unreasonable and over-reaching, and seeking to get a court to stop them from cutting billions of dollars in research funding for the institution. [New York Times]
  • The Vatican is saying that Pope Francis died of stroke and heart failure. [CNN]
  • Trump could definitely change his tune soon, but for now he's brushing off any outrage about Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth sharing sensitive military information — again! — in a second group chat that included his wife and brother. [New York Times]
